WS-O

Overview

Optical network operators continue to face network scale, efficiency, and flexibility challenges as capacity demands on optical networks grow. The ramification for the network is an elevated need to use network resources more efficiently. At present modern optical networks require state-of-the-art network Optimization software in order to extract maximum optical network capacity and achieve optimal Total Cost of Ownership.

The Optimization software should have capabilities to analyze measured optical network transmission parameters, compute optimal photonic parameters based on measured real-time and predictive data, and provision necessary changes in the network (launch power, the most suitable modulation formats & baud rates) in optical networks

Key Features

  • Channel Optimization & Deployment
feature helps to gain capacity in the network by analyzing whether the modulation format and/or baud rate of a channel can be optimized to either increase the bit rate (e.g. from 100G to 200G) or improve spectrum utilization (e.g. reduce spacing from 62.5 GHz to 50 GHz).
The operator can choose a best-optimized channel and perform a deploy operation that dynamically changes the capacity without impacting the client services.

  • Link Optimization and Deployment
feature helps in optimizing the optical link performance based on measured span losses instead of conservation assumptions on end-of-life (EOL) fiber characteristics and worst-case transmission parameters. Operator can deploy the new power measurements to the network.

  • Restoration and Multi-layer Analysis
feature helps the operator to simulate “What-if” analysis i.e. simulate an NE or link failure and analyze if the connections can be rerouted to new routes. Operator can perform this analysis for each link/node in the network.

  • Spectrum Streamline
feature helps the operator to identify the defragmentation created in the links in network over time and help operator reclaim the capacity effectively.
